Hand Applique

Straight applique is about stitching one fabric over another to create a pattern. Whereas reverse applique to reveal a pattern by cutting open one of the fabrics to show the fabric below it.

At Bodhi this technique is used in combination with printing andembroidery to create unique surfaces as well as creatively use small left over pieces of fabric as a step towards sustainability.

The picture shows pieces of fabric cut in some patterns being held in place with long stitches before the edges are rolled and firmly hand stitched on to the base fabric.
